Spring Haze: Japan for the First Time in Two Years
My time in Japan passed so quickly. With a pile of thoughts and feelings, I spoke with the beloved people of my birthplace and learned a great many things. While in Japan, I expected that I would enjoy the cherry blossoms in springtime, but in the end what I remember most are the images of my mother and the hazy air in spring, instead.
Planet of Water
This month, I will go back to my home country, Japan, for the first time in two years.
It’s been a couple of decades since I spent the cherry blossom season with my family and friends, so I’m very happy.
My newsletter this month expresses my happiness and gratitude as well as a prayer for peace.
My darling from the power of the dog
The title is a quote from the Old Testament:
“Deliver my soul from the sword; my darling from the power of the dog.”” (Psalm 22)
I find it a little hard to understand what this implies. Does it mean, “Please release me from the evil (the power of the dog) that torments me?” Where does the power of the dog come from, and who does my darling represent? It can be interpreted in several ways. The power of the dog comes through discord, and the dog might be me or you.
The Year of the Tiger–Days Continue, Days Pass
The scarf of the month is Yuh Okano borrows the power of a tiger.
Origin: the expression “borrowing the power of a tiger”
Meaning: A weak person dominates by relying on the authority of a powerful person
Let’s transform ourselves into strong tigers without harming others, and enjoy!
